Dr Jonathan Begley

Profile

Dr Begley is a specialist anaesthetist working and living in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Jonathan completed his medical degree and anaesthesia training in Melbourne, including at Monash Medical Centre and The Alfred Hospital. He also completed a fellowship in aeromedical retrieval working on the rescue helicopters and RFDS aircraft in North Queensland.

Jonathan works in all areas of perioperative care at both public and private hospitals in the Riverina. As a passionate clinical educator, Jonathan is a College Supervisor of Training and is an instructor on postgraduate courses such as the Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST) course.

He is a member of three ANZCA Special Interest Groups; airway management, medical education, and remote anaesthesia. Jonathan is also an Officer in the Australian Army reserve and has deployed on HMAS Adelaide as a retrieval specialist in 2018. He is also a deployable specialist with the Australian overseas disaster-relief Medical Assistance Team (AUSMAT).

Jonathan has a relaxed and friendly manner and provides high-quality anaesthesia with a focus on safety and comfort.

Jonathan is a proud member of the Wagga community, where he lives with his wife and two children. He and his wife are members of the Wagga Road Runners and the Dirty Crows Trail Runners' groups.

Profile
Originally from Malaysia-Singapore, Dr Chieng graduated from The University of Melbourne Medical School. She has done research at Oxford University (UK) and Mahidol University (Thailand) for projects funded by Welcome Trust.

Dr Chieng is a fellow of the Australian & New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. She trained with St George Hospital, a tertiary trauma centre in New South Wales. This training included experience at specialised centres for paediatric surgery (The Children’s Hospital at Westmead), for obstetrics and gynaecology (the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick) and for heart and lung surgery (St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney). She was the first Burns and Reconstructive Surgery Anaesthesia Fellow at Fiona Stanley Hospital, which houses Western Australia’s State Burns Service. She also sub-specialised in Regional Anaesthesia while she was in WA.

In addition to in-hospital training of anaesthetic trainees for ANZCA and GP anaesthetists for HETI, Dr Chieng is an instructor for multidisciplinary courses run by the Australian Resuscitation Council and the Australian & New Zealand Burns Association.

In Wagga, she is a member of Medication Safety & Drug & Therapeutic Committee and on standby for Major incident medical management and support.

Dr Chieng has public and private appointments in Wagga Wagga and Sydney.

Profile
Dr Andries Coetzer was born in South Africa. He attended the University of Pretoria where he acquired his medical degree. He worked in various rural hospitals where he gained experience in obstetrics, general surgery and orthopaedics. Military conscription led to experience in military medicine, aviation medicine, emergency medicine and cardiology. After military service and a period in GP practice, he specialised in anaesthesia and finished a masters degree in medicine and post-graduate diploma in aviation medicine. He worked both in private practice gaining experience in all areas of anaesthesia and as consultant anaesthetist at the University of Pretoria, doing mostly paediatric and adult cardio thoracic and neuro anaesthesia. After 12 years as anaesthetist in South Africa, he decided to spread his wings and bring his wife and two sons to a safer Australia. He sat the fellowship exams again in Australia and then completed a masters degree in peri-operative ultrasound and echocardiography. Both his sons are at university and he enjoys the country life in Wagga Wagga. His interests are general and regional anaesthesia to all ages and in all disciplines. His hobbies are teaching, archery, bow hunting and motorcycling.

Profile
Dr Easther is a specialist anaesthetist living and working in Wagga Wagga, NSW. Robert completed his medical degree at the University of Tasmania and gained his specialist qualification in the Tasmanian Anaesthesia Training Program.

In 2017 Robert completed a one-year fellowship in Obstetric Anaesthesia at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He has a special interest in obstetric and regional anaesthesia.

Robert first worked in Wagga in 2017 and returned permanently in 2018. He works at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, Calvary Hospital Riverina, Calvary Day Procedure Centre, Riverina Day Surgery, Wagga Endoscopy Centre and St Vincent’s Private Community Hospital, Griffith.

Profile

Dr Farrell is a Specialist Anaesthetist proudly living and working in the beautiful Riverina region of NSW. Born and bred in Wagga Wagga, Megan completed her medical degree and anaesthesia specialty training in Melbourne prior to returning to the Riverina with her family.

Dr Farrell is a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists, and works in both public and private practice in Wagga. She has a special interest in perioperative medicine and obstetric and paediatric anaesthesia, having undertaken additional training at the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne.

Megan provides modern, expert, individualised care, and strives to optimise each patient's experience of anaesthesia. With her friendly country manner, she enjoys a chat and delights in caring for the people of the Riverina.

In her spare time, Megan runs around after her 2 boys and enjoys a good cup of tea.

Profile

Dr Lemech is a specialist anaesthetist working and living in Wagga Wagga, NSW. He completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales, spending time in Wagga Wagga both as a student and intern. He completed his anaesthetic training at Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne, Victoria.

Igor has been working in the Riverina since 2011, dividing his time between Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, Calvary Hospital, Riverina Day Surgery and Griffith Private. He is also the clinical lead for the new public Metabolic Obesity Service as well as the Acute Pain Service at the Base Hospital.

Igor is the Supervisor of Training for the ANZCA trainees, the supervisor for the GP anaesthetists and generalists training in Wagga as well as the rotating emergency department trainees. He is the anaesthetic lead for the Local Regional Training Hub. He has been an associate investigator for NHMRC sponsored trials. He is a member of multiple committees and advisory councils for local hospitals.

Dr Christopher Mumme

Dr Mumme is a Specialist Anaesthetist, happily married with two delightful children and a third on the way living in Wagga Wagga. He moved to the region in 2006 and has embedded himself in the community since then.

During his training Dr Mumme was awarded the ANZCA Certificate of Merit acknowledging excellence achieved in the Final Fellowship Examination - an award for the runner up performance across all anaesthesia candidates in Australia and New Zealand. He is proud of achieving this success having completed the majority of his training in the Riverina.

Dr Mumme has a wide range of clinical expertise, not limited to a special interest in perioperative medicine, regional anaesthesia, wholistic care of cancer patients, paediatric and obstetric anaesthesia and medical education. He works across both the public and private sector in Wagga Wagga.

Along with his clinical duties, Dr Mumme contributes a significant amount of energy into his role as the Director of Prevocational Education and Training. In this role, he supervises, educates, mentors and advocates for the wellbeing for in excess of 50 junior doctors working within the Murrumbidgee Local Health District aiming to strengthen the workforce in all specialties within the Riverina.

In his spare time, Chris has completed the Hawaiian Ironman, enjoys swimming, water polo, fishing and cycling as well as dabbling on the farm .
